This is where we came in! Vir Clinics has been treating hundreds of men, successfully, for more than ten years. The slogans 'Overcome Impotence' and 'Erection Correction' are ours. No one else has the right to use these words. If you would like to know how that second one came about, ask us, by e-mail. It is a mildly amusing story and of all things it happened in Uganda some time before writers at the British magazine 'Private Eye' started using 'Ugandan' with their own special meaning.

We have a terrific reputation for quality, confidentiality and service. By 'successful' we mean no failures. That is, up to the present date, not even one failure among men with erectile dysfunction who have entrusted themselves to us and accepted our advice completely. No-one can guarantee a cure, no-one is allowed to and quite rightly so. Most patients will need help over a considerable period rather than just a one-off treatment.

Erectile dysfunction of various degrees of severity is the most common, most prevalent medical condition of all. 10% of all men worldwide suffer to a greater or lesser degree from erectile failure, sufficient to prevent them from having sexual intercourse and thus causing distress both to themselves and their wives. So we must be allowed to call it a medical condition because it certainly is something that causes distress to the men who suffer from it, and yet it is easily treated by straightforward medical methods. At VIR we require proper initial consultation and a good range of tests before we will offer advice or undertake treatment. Many patients are happy with the idea of a flat-rate fee to cover all that together with the first batch of treatment and any follow-up consultations or telephone advice that may be necessary. Others prefer to meet us before committing to any expense beyond the standard first consultation fee. Tests and treatment must always be charged for; you may save by bringing along any recent test results.

The initial consultation is almost equivalent to a standard health evaluation, and more blood tests can be added if you wish. Many patients have been very pleased for us to discover important health problems that can then be dealt with in a proper manner and in good time.

Further supplies can be provided directly by us, e.g. through the post, or through a prescription, as you wish, and additional consultation fees are charged only if there is an additional medical problem to be looked into. We do not supply except to our own patients and do not compete with the internet cheats. Our medications are the real thing and prices include continuing medical support. Note for example that soft-tab Cialis cannot be Cialis since the manufacturer and trademark owner (Eli Lilly) does not make any such thing. If you buy over the internet sight unseen you have absolutely no idea what is in the product supplied. No herbal preparation is any use for erectile dysfunction.

Others patients suffer from premature ejaculation or emotional upset or an abnormality of the genital organs, which they may find embarrassing, or in some other way making difficulties for them. No-one can deny that treatment in these cases is more difficult and the range of possibilities is too large to be summarised here. Yet help can always be given, ranging from surgery to psychological therapy via ordinary medical treatment which will be enough in most cases.

Nowadays, that is to say within the last twenty years only, a large range of possible medical treatments has become available. There is no possibility of listing them all so let's just mention a few and note that these are NOT confined to use in erectile failure. That is an elementary error.

First in everyone's mind will be Viagra (sildenafil). It is a good drug; safe, with few problems for the majority of patients, and is still a common treatment in our clinic also. Two other drugs that work in a similar way, Cialis (tadalafil) and Levitra (vardenafil), have been in use by us since January 2003 and most patients who have tried it now use Cialis by preference because of its prolonged action, as it were in the background, which eliminates anxiety about when to take the medicine. However, which one to choose is a matter of patient individuality. Most men will succeed with Viagra, Cialis or Levitra and especially if they are properly taught by us about how to use them to best effect.

However, Viagra and the like are not the gold standard and nearly everything in the newspapers about them is misleading or grossly in error. Some men will need quite other sorts of treatment. It is because of our expertise with the whole range of available treatments that we are able to make our proud claim of no failures yet. Other treatments include: · Injections of alprostadil (PGE1, trade names Caverject or Viridal) or papaverine or various drug mixtures · 'Muse' (aprostadil administered locally) · Yohimbine · Uprima (apomorphine) · Hormones (including testosterone, occasionally) · Vacuum devices · Surgery to correct abnormalities, for example a bent penis. · And there are other treatments that we use less frequently. Because of our uniform success with medical treatments, we have not yet found it necessary for any or our patients to undergo surgical implantation of a prosthesis to make an artificial erection, though that is always available either by choice or as the last resort.
